A Secret Santa runs smoothly when three things are settled early: the budget, the date and the rules. This guide walks through each step, with real gift prices from our shop and the last day to order so everything arrives before the exchange. Prefer a shortcut? Our free Secret Santa planner draws names and shows your order-by date.

How to organize a Secret Santa in 7 steps
- Pick the group and a coordinator. A team, a family or a friend group. One person collects the names, sets the budget and runs the draw.
- Set one budget and say it clearly. A single number avoids awkward mismatches. Say whether it includes tax and shipping.
- Choose the exchange date and work backwards. Gifts that are made to order need production and shipping time. See the dates below.
- Draw the names. Make sure nobody draws themselves. Our planner runs in your browser and does not store the names, and each person taps only their own name to see who they got.
- Share interests or a wishlist. Ask everyone for two or three interests. With our wishlist, anyone can save favorites and share a link without making an account.
- Order before the deadline. Ship to the giver or directly to the recipient by using their address at checkout.
- Exchange and reveal. Open gifts together or in person, then guess who had whom.
Basic rules that prevent problems
- Keep to the budget, so nobody feels over or under-dressed.
- Choose items without sizing unless you know the size. Our products are made to order, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges for wrong size or change of mind.
- Keep the draw secret until the reveal.
- Agree on a plan for dropouts before ordering. Re-drawing is easy early and hard once gifts are on the way.

When to order for your exchange date
Our items are produced in 3 to 5 business days and then ship in 3 to 6 business days within the United States, or 6 to 12 internationally. For non-apparel items we plan 2 extra days. For an exchange on Friday, December 18, 2026, these comfortable order-by dates apply:

| Where and what | Order by |
|---|---|
| United States, mugs, ornaments and accessories | Tue, Dec 1 |
| United States, apparel | Thu, Dec 3 |
| International, mugs, ornaments and accessories | Mon, Nov 23 |
| International, apparel | Wed, Nov 25 |
Dates count Monday to Friday only and do not include holidays, so add a few days in late November and December. See the last day to order for Christmas for more detail. Our matte poster ships only within the United States, so skip it for international groups.
Make the exchange more fun
- Pick a theme such as cozy, desk or kitchen, so gifts feel connected.
- Ask each person for a favorite color or two interests instead of a long list.
- Add a short handwritten note. It often matters more than the price.

Frequently asked questions
How much should a Secret Santa gift cost?
Whatever the group agrees on. Many groups pick a round number such as $15, $20 or $25. What matters is that everyone follows the same limit.
Can we do Secret Santa remotely?
Yes. Each giver can order a gift and enter the recipient’s address as the shipping address at checkout. Use the earlier international dates if people live in different countries.
What if someone drops out?
Redo the draw before anyone orders. Setting a sign-up deadline a week or two before the order-by date keeps this simple.
